According to the British Daily Telegraph, the beach Zlatni rat in Bol on the Island of Brac is the most beautiful beach in Europe. Also, the tourist guide publisher Lonely Planet has ranked Zlatni rat among the ten most beautiful beaches in the world. Zlatni rat is located on the west side of Bol on the mid Dalmatian island of Brac, positioned beneath the Vid's Mountain, the highest Adriatic insular mountain. It is half a kilometre long and is one of the biggest natural attractions of the Croatian Adriatic coast. The beach is spectacular on account of its triangle shape, and its specificity is that it changes shape depending on the direction of the wind. This makes it perfect for surfing and other water sports, which is why many international sports competitions are organized here. The beach is surrounded by a pine tree and oak tree forest, and offers numerous possibilities for the organization of various entertainment events. Numerous high quality hotels, suite resorts, restaurants, cafes, taverns and nightclubs, as well as sports facilities for both children and adults are located in close proximity to the beach.

In October of last year, hotel company Zlatni rat – whose headquarters are in Bol on Brac – celebrated six decades of successful operation. Zlatni rat, which got its name by the same name world famous Bol beach, is among the most successful Croatian tourist companies.

Founded on October 17, 1948, Zlatni rat started with only a few guest rooms and later it increased its capacity every year. The turnaround in its development was the opening of the hotel Bijela kuca, made with an adaptation of a student home. During that time, an accelerated growth of hotel capacity started, and during the 70s, hotels Elaphusa and Borak are opened and one decade later, hotel complex Bretanide and in 1999, hotel complex Bonaca. Zlatni rat today has 1,600 beds in three hotels, which are operating as part of the Croatian hotel chain Blue Sun. There are 180 employees in the company, and this year hotel Grand Elaphusa should put the fifth star on its entrance. Zlatni rat – which is the majority owner of Bra? Airport – has strongly marked the tourism development of Bol, island of Brac,  as well as entire Croatia and it counts among the most popular destinations in the country. British Telegraph Magazine pronounced Zlatni rat in Bol the most spectacular beach in Croatia and one of the most impressive ones in the Mediterranean, and published its photograph on the cover page. Although this is an unofficial selection of the best 17 beaches in European countries, the British magazine placed Zlatni rat among the most impressive Mediterranean beaches, stating that its magnificence is in the fact that it changes the shape and position depending on the wind. This is why the beach in Bol is ideal for windsurfing and and many other water sports. From the south side Zlatni rat beach is protected by Hvar island from strong sirocco wind making possible in that way its unique form.

At the time the issue of Telegraph Magazine with the list of the most beautiful European beaches was published, Bol was hosting the world kiteboard competition called Red Bull Golden Jump. This multi-day competition, the first one of the kind organized in Croatia, featured 14 professionals in this extreme sport. Athletes competing in kicker- wakestyle–freestyle disciplines also fought for the world title, jumping over platforms set up at the far end of the beach to its other side. As this sport has become increasingly popular in Croatia over the past few years and the world kiteboard championship in Bol attracted numerous spectators, Zlatni rat is expected to be the venue for competitions in this adrenaline sport in the future.
